The Terminal

《幸福终点站》

Scene 1: Introduction to the Airport

[INT. INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – ARRIVAL HALL – DAY]

Viktor Navorski (VO):

I was born in a country that no longer exists. I came to America with only one dream — to find a better life.

[CUT TO: VIKTOR NAVORSKI, a man in his late 30s, walks into the airport with a suitcase and a map.]

Viktor Navorski:

Where is the terminal? I need to get to New York.

Airport Employee (female):

You're at the wrong terminal. This is the international terminal. The domestic one is on the other side of the building.

Viktor Navorski:

But I have a ticket to New York. I must go there.

Airport Employee:

You can't go to New York from here. You need to check in at the domestic terminal.

Viktor Navorski:

But I don’t know where that is.

Airport Employee:

Maybe you should ask someone.

[Viktor looks around, confused.]

Viktor Navorski (to himself):

This is not how it was supposed to be.

Scene 2: A New Home

[INT. AIRPORT – NIGHT]

Viktor Navorski:

I have no place to go. I have no money. I have no papers. But I have a passport.

[He sits down on a bench, looking tired.]

Viktor Navorski (VO):

In my country, they say that when you are lost, you must keep moving. But here, I am stuck.

[A man named Frank Dixon approaches him.]

Frank Dixon:

You look like you’re waiting for something.

Viktor Navorski:

I am waiting for a plane. But I don’t know when it will come.

Frank Dixon:

You could stay here. There’s always space.

Viktor Navorski:

But I don’t belong here.

Frank Dixon:

You don’t have to belong. You just have to be.

Scene 3: Learning the Language

[INT. AIRPORT – LATER THAT WEEK]

Viktor Navorski:

What does "please" mean?

Airport Employee:

It means you're being polite.

Viktor Navorski:

And "thank you"?

Airport Employee:

That means you're being grateful.

Viktor Navorski:

And "I’m sorry"?

Airport Employee:

That means you're admitting you made a mistake.

Viktor Navorski (to himself):

I think I understand now.

Scene 4: Making Friends

[INT. AIRPORT – MONTHS LATER]

Viktor Navorski:

I have learned many things in this place. I have learned how to order coffee. I have learned how to read a newspaper. And I have learned how to be kind.

[He smiles at a young girl who is playing nearby.]

Viktor Navorski:

You are very brave.

Girl:

Why?

Viktor Navorski:

Because you are not afraid to try.

Girl:

What about you?

Viktor Navorski:

I used to be afraid. But now, I am not.

Scene 5: The Final Flight

[INT. AIRPORT – FINAL DAY]

Viktor Navorski (VO):

After all these months, I finally have a ticket to New York. But I know that the journey is not over.

[He walks through the airport, waving goodbye to those he has met along the way.]

Frank Dixon:

You’ve made a difference here, Viktor.

Viktor Navorski:

No, Frank. It was you who made a difference in my life.

[He steps onto the plane and looks out the window as it takes off.]

Viktor Navorski (VO):

I may not have a home, but I have found something more important — a place where I belong.

THE END
